Imad Wasim, an all-rounder for Pakistan, announced his second retirement from international cricket on Friday. The 35-year-old has stated that he hopes to play domestic and international cricket in the future. Imad had previously declared his retirement from international cricket in 2023 as well, but his outstanding play in the Pakistan Super League—winning player of the match in each of the three playoff games for eventual winners Islamabad United—led to a comeback to the T20 format.
He then played for Pakistan in the USA and the West Indies at the 2024 T20 World Cup. But after losing to India and the United States in the group round, Pakistan was eliminated early from the competition. In June of this year, he played his final international match against Ireland in the T20 World Cup. He failed to regain his position on the team.

Imad scored 1,540 runs and claimed 117 wickets in the white-ball format while playing for Pakistan in 75 Twenty20 Internationals and 55 One-Day Internationals. He didn’t represent Pakistan in Test cricket.
“To all of my admirers and supporters: I have made the decision to retire from international cricket after giving it careful consideration. Wearing the green jersey has been an incredible experience, and representing Pakistan on the international scene has been the biggest honor of my life,” he said on X, previously Twitter.
“Your enthusiasm, love, and unfailing support have always been my greatest assets. Your support has motivated me to do my best for our dear nation through all the highs and lows. As this chapter draws to a close, I’m excited to continue playing cricket both domestically and via franchises, and I aim to continue surprising you all in new ways. I appreciate all you’ve done. Pakistan,” he continued.
