With this victory, South Africa now leads among the nine top cricket-playing nations, boasting the highest Points Percentage System (PCT) of 66.67. In the current World Test Championship cycle, South Africa has won seven out of eleven Test matches, lost three, and drawn one. Australia is in second place with a PCT of 58.89.
Throughout this cycle, Australia has participated in 15 matches, winning nine, losing four, and drawing two. India follows closely in third place with a PCT of 55.88, having played 17 Test matches, winning nine, losing six, and drawing two. India and Australia, the reigning champions, are competing for the opportunity to face South Africa in the WTC finals at Lord’s.
The fourth Test match between Australia and India is currently taking place in Melbourne, as part of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the 2024-25 season. The series will determine the second finalist for the championship. In the first innings at Centurion, Pakistan scored 211 runs for 10 wickets in 57.3 overs after losing the toss.
In response, South Africa scored 301 runs, losing all of their wickets in 73.4 overs. In their second innings, Pakistan totaled 237 runs for 10 wickets in 59.4 overs. The South African batsmen managed to score 150 runs for eight wickets while chasing the target in just 39.3 overs.
