Days before the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Melbourne begins, Team India has had to contend with a serious injury concern. According to reports, during a net practice, captain Rohit Sharma was struck on the knee. Despite the discomfort, he attempted to play on but ultimately had to seek medical help. With his left knee wrapped and his equipment removed, Rohit was seen sitting on a chair. Even though the blow didn’t appear to be dangerous at first, the physiotherapists will probably keep a tight eye on him before the MCG match.
Every member of the Indian squad takes part in the nets session, and star pacer Jasprit Bumrah bowls with gusto. According to a Times of India article, players like Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep also dazzled everyone with their skills during the nets session.
Along with side-armers, Virat Kohli, who hasn’t been playing well lately, faced spinners Washington Sundar and Ravindra Jadeja. As the Melbourne match draws nearer, the Indian squad will start training after taking a day off on Monday.
Many believe that Rohit may retire from Test cricket in the upcoming months due to his inability to reach his best form, particularly when batting at number six. This is especially true after the Brisbane Test, when the team’s top spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin, opted to put up his boots.
“Never make a choice just on the basis of form. I’m choosing him since he is the team’s captain. Rohit needed some time to get back into it, so he hasn’t begun here. He is a great player and wants to score some runs. He believes that playing middle-order is ideal for the squad. I’m not going to alter anything. KL I know Rahul is doing a fantastic job at the top. “It doesn’t really matter what format he plays; he is at his best when he is self-assured, supporting himself, and playing aggressively,” Clarke told ESPN Australia.
According to reports, Rohit appeared alright after he was able to shrug off the impact to his knee.
