The leading wicket-taker for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 was Mukesh Choudhary, who traveled to Australia as a net bowler for the T20 World Cup in 2021. Unfortunately, he was sidelined for the 2023 Indian Premier League due to dual injuries—a rib fracture and a stress fracture of the back.
When he returned for the 2024 season, he struggled to secure a spot in the starting lineup. In the single match he played, Abhishek Sharma from Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) hit him for 27 runs in one over. “I was in good shape last year, but I wasn’t fully recovered due to a lack of match practice. However, CSK believed in me and brought me back this year.

I’m really happy,” he declared at the opening of the Junior Super Kings (JSK) inter-school T20 cricket event. “It’s difficult. Injuries are tough, but it’s beneficial to start from the beginning and work your way up,” he continued. He concluded the recently finished Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy as the third-highest wicket-taker for Maharashtra, claiming 15 wickets in six matches at an economy rate of 8.81, indicating that he could have been playing at or near his peak.
“I’m excited for the upcoming Indian Premier League season. I’m ready to go,” he said. The left-arm bowler expressed optimism about bowling alongside Khaleel Ahmed, a fellow left-arm pacer and close friend. “Khaleel is one of my closest friends. We both trained at the MRF Pace Foundation, so we’re very familiar with each other. We haven’t played any competitive matches together yet, but hopefully, we will during the IPL,” he stated.
