On Day 2 of Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy match versus Jammu and Kashmir at Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy BKC, Mumbai, there was a little commotion. The umpire ruled Mumbai batsman Shreyas Iyer out on Friday after he edged a delivery from Jammu and Kashmir bowler Auqib Nabi Dar to the wicketkeeper. The guy behind the stumps, Kanhaiya Wadhawan, took the catch diving to his right. Iyer was dissatisfied with the decision, but the umpire raised his finger without hesitation. He engaged the umpire in conversation after deciding not to leave the field. Ajinkya Rahane, the captain of Mumbai, who was at the non-striker’s end, also participated in the conversation.
The validity of the catch was undoubtedly questioned by both Mumbai hitters. However, Iyer was forced to go back after a lengthy debate with the umpires.

Iyer, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Rohit Sharma—India’s top hitters—did not perform well in the match.
To show off his best, Rohit drew Umar Nazir Mir for his signature six and easily lofted Auqib Nabi and Yudhvir Singh for a few more shots over the ropes. However, he ultimately fell for 28 on Friday, proving that a fifty on Ranji return was not in his future.
However, Jaiswal, who was also playing a good knock, was dismissed for 26. Iyer only managed to score 17 runs as well.
Mumbai was bundled out for 120 on the first day. But after a fierce battle, the team captained by Ajinkya Rahane bowled out Jammu & Kashmir for 206. Mumbai’s decision to bat on a green-top wicket proved expensive as they were dismissed for just 120. In response, Jammu and Kashmir concluded the first day’s play with 174/7, a 54-run advantage.
