Uttar Pradesh’s captain for the forthcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy is Rinku Singh. The competition is slated to start on Saturday, December 21, with UP playing Jammu and Kashmir in Group D in Vizianagaram. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who captained the squad throughout the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, which concluded last week, is replaced by Rinku as captain.
Rinku will be heading his state squad at the senior level for the first time. Earlier this season, he captained the Meerut Mavericks in the UP T20 league, helping them win the championship with 210 runs in nine innings with a strike rate of 161.54. In addition, the Kolkata Knight Riders have kept him ahead of the 2025 Indian Premier League, although the team has not yet revealed its captain.

However, Rinku is not yet considering a career as KKR captain, and this time with UP is a tryout for the position. He is willing to guide the UP squad to the illusive Vijay Hazare Trophy, and he is now concentrating on team preparation. “I’m not giving KKR’s captaincy in the upcoming IPL season much thought. Since I want my side to win the trophy again after winning it for the first time in 2015–16, I am concentrating on my plans for Uttar Pradesh,” Rinku stated.
“As captain of Uttar Pradesh, I have got a bigger role to play, and I’m ready for this,” Rinku stated. With one century and 17 fifties to his credit, the left-hander has amassed 1899 runs at an average of 48.69 in 52 innings, making his total List-A figures respectable. The selectors will be watching his performance in the Vijay Hazare Trophy because the Champions Trophy is scheduled for February of next year.
