At Monday’s IPL super auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, India pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar sold to Royal Challengers Bengaluru for Rs 10.75 crore.
As the Mumbai Indians and RCB fought for his services, his worth skyrocketed from his basic price of Rs 2 crore.
Since Bhuvi’s first Indian Premier League team was RCB, he returned to the team, spending 2009 and 2010 with the now-defunct Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Bhuvneshwar began his IPL career with the RCB in 2009 before joining the now-defunct Pune Warriors. After three seasons with the franchise, he was able to get a contract with Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he played for ten years and became the team’s all-time top wicket-taker. In the league, he has participated in 176 games and claimed 181 wickets.
With an economy rate of 9.35 and 11 wickets from 16 games, Bhuvneshwar was unable to contribute much to SRH in the 2024 IPL. All things considered, Bhuvneshwar has a great deal of IPL experience, having claimed 181 wickets in 176 games.
With an economy rate of less than eight and 300 wickets from 287 career T20 matches, Bhuvneshwar will be 35 before the next IPL season begins. However, he is regarded as being well past his peak at the international level and last played for India in November 2022 during a tour of New Zealand.
After retaining Jasprit Bumrah and acquiring Trent Boult on Day 1, the Mumbai Indians strengthened their already potent bowling arsenal with the Rs 9.25 crore purchase of Deepak Chahar. With 81 games played, the 32-year-old has taken 77 wickets. He went into the auction with a base price of Rs 2 crore, and MI won the bidding battle in spite of CSK’s best efforts to purchase him once more.
The former RCB fast bowler Akash Deep was also sold to the Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 8 crore. Since PBKS, CSK, and LSG fought for his services, which began at a base price of Rs 1 crore until LSG won the auction, he was in great demand.
