As Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) prepares for the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL), a few of supporters and analysts remain unsure about the team’s captain.
Former captain Faf du Plessis was not retained by the team for the next tournament, leaving RCB without a leader.
Star batsman Virat Kohli has the team’s greatest chance to be captain, according to RCB legend and former South Africa great AB de Villiers.
De Villiers asserts that Kohli’s leadership abilities are unmatched and that the star Indian batsman would be the most suitable candidate to captain the team in the next season of the lucrative league.
The former South Africa icon also thinks it would be ideal if the side won their first IPL season when the superstar was captain.
“The only choice for the RCB captaincy is Virat Kohli. As his career draws to a close, he is more motivated than ever. We are accustomed to seeing him perform innings that win games until he finds his rhythm and starts scoring runs. “It resembles a swansong,” De Villiers said.
Interestingly, Kohli was the team’s captain from 2013 until 2021. When they advanced to the final in 2016, he nearly lifted the IPL title. But after losing to SRH, they almost missed winning the title.
