Faf Du Plessis has been one of the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) most dependable openers for more than ten years. Du Plessis, who made his debut in 2012 with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), is renowned for going on bowlers during the powerplay.
Faf’s performance against spin has recently improved, making him a good fit for Indian wickets. Faf, who is 40 years old, is still considered one of the IPL’s top fielders. He is an essential member of the leadership team due to his extensive captaincy experience.
For the forthcoming IPL season, Faf Du Plessis will join the Delhi Capitals (DC) at a salary of INR 2 crores. After RCB declined to use their former captain’s Right to Match (RTM) card, DC purchased the South African icon for his base price.
Faf will provide the Delhi batting order much-needed experience. He will bat in the same order as his compatriot Tristan Stubbs.
In 2011, Faf Du Plessis signed with CSK to start his IPL career. After making his debut in 2012, he joined CSK as a bench player and served as Michael Hussey’s backup until 2013. Before joining the Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) for the 2016 and 2017 seasons, Faf played for CSK till 2015.
After rejoining CSK in 2018, Faf was instrumental in the team’s subsequent victories. In 2018 and 2021, Faf participated in two IPL championship seasons. Due to his game-winning 86-run haul against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 2021 IPL final, he was also named Player of the Match.
