Jharkhand, who were chasing 161 for victory, had some tenacity, but Bhuvneshwar’s outstanding swing bowling put an end to their hopes. The pacer from Meerut let up only six runs in his first three overs while bowling with the new ball.
Bhuvneshwar struck with an incredible hat-trick in a game-changing 17th over, knocking Vivek Anand Tiwari, Bal Krishna, and Robin Minz off successive deliveries. With impressive final numbers of 4-1-6-3, he made sure Jharkhand lost by 10 runs.
A historic season in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy is concluded with Bhuvneshwar’s performance. He surpassed Jasprit Bumrah to become the first Indian bowler to record 300 T20 wickets in Uttar Pradesh’s inaugural match against Delhi last month.
With 90 T20I wickets between 2012 and 2022, Bhuvneshwar is India’s second-highest wicket-taking bowler in the game. In 176 SMAT matches, he has claimed 181 wickets.
Despite not being part of the Indian team’s preparations, Bhuvneshwar created waves when he joined Royal Challengers Bengaluru. In the IPL 2025 mega auction, the franchise paid Rs 10.75 crore for him, ending his 11-year contract with Sunrisers Hyderabad.
