In the Indian domestic circuit, Vijay Shankar is renowned for his strong technique against spinners. For Tamil Nadu, the middle-order hitter has shown to be one of the most dependable performers. In 2014, Shankar debuted for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Vijay Shankar also played for India in the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup.
Vijay Shankar, a “Uncapped” player going into the IPL 2025 mega auction, was purchased by the Chennai Super Kings for INR 1.2 crores. Both CSK and his previous squad, the Gujarat Titans, expressed interest in Vijay Shankar when he arrived with a base price of INR 30 lakhs. After winning the 2023 finalists’ bidding battle, CSK paid INR 1.2 crores to get the all-rounder’s talents. On the square-turning track of Chepauk, CSK will greatly benefit from Vijay Shankar’s superb technique against spinners.

After playing one match with the Chennai Super Kings in 2013, Vijay Shankar transferred to Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2017, where he scored his best IPL score of 64* against the Gujarat Lions.
After being acquired by the Delhi Daredevils in 2018, Shankar was transferred back to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for the 2019 campaign. In the 2022 season, he at last joined the Gujarat Titans (GT) and played a significant part in their championship run.
