Following Day 2 of the IPL Mega Auction 2025, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the tournament’s youngest player, made headlines. The Rajasthan Royals made an offer of Rs 1.10 crore for the 13-year-old Bihar youngster.
Aside from becoming the youngest batter to achieve an international century in a Youth Test match for India Under-19 versus Australia U-19 in Chennai, his age was one of the most talked-about topics when the news first surfaced. In the match, he scored 104 from 62 balls.

Since he celebrates his birthday in September, the IPL’s official website states that the records indicate he was 14 at the time of the auction. That may be explained by the fact that the player data for the 2025 Mega Auction was gathered prior to his birthdate.
The footballer was 14 years old when he confirmed his age in April 2023, according to local media, thus he is currently 15 years old.
Sanjiv Suryavanshi, Vaibhav’s father, told PTI that he is more than happy to take the required tests to assist verify his age and clear up any mistake if needed, taking into consideration the entire incident.
